Students will receive review Math and Science homework for the entire week each Monday. Unless otherwise directed, homework is to be completed nightly and returned to school each day. We check it together and then I collect it on Friday. Most of the time, Quizzes will be announced at least a week ahead of time. In rare cases, quizzes may be given with as little as three days notice. Students should begin to bring home their Math and Science Interactive Notebooks nightly to review content taught that day or previously.
Students are also expected to read for 20-30 minutes each night. No parent signature or log is required. Here are some helpful hints to manage homework and studying for tests:

There will be no science homework this week. Students have math each night and a Figurative Language Reading Passage due at the end of the week.
This week students have a Quiz on Order of Operations, or PEMDAS, on Wednesday, 3/13. They also have a quiz in Science on Cell parts and all 5.5 Vocabulary on Friday, 3/15. Students have flashcards, diagrams and foldables in their notebooks and Quizlet flashcards to help them study.
In addition to the regular homework this week, students will most likely need to use their home reading time to keep up with book club assignments. It is the expectation in all groups that each member read the assigned reading for the day and not read beyond the agreed upon pages. This will require improved reading stamina on the part of some students who do not read regularly at home.
The Quiz on Wednesday will consist vocabulary and questions related to 5.5 EXCEPT for Cell Parts, which have already been assessed. Here are some resources to help review. Dont forget to use your Science Notebook!
We are finishing up our Matter Unit this week, discussing Mixtures and Solutions. Two study guides came home at the beginning of the unit (copied on green paper) and I reminded students today to locate them and review them, along with their Science Notebooks. The test will be next Tuesday, 1/16. Today I sent home an additional study guide which you can find attached. I have postponed the Southeast States location quiz until this Friday, 1/12. Students should be reviewing/studying location and correct spelling every night as part of their nightly homework. Finally, we will be finishing up our Math Unit on Comparing and Ordering Fractions and Decimals. (5.2b.) We have been reviewing and practicing in class and the test will be Friday, 1/12. Students should bring home their Math Notebooks every day to study.
